The Stables, Large Holiday House, Mull

The Stables, large self catering holiday house

The Stables (formerly the Farmhouse) is our family home and we also use it as a large holiday letting house. It was built in the 18th century and was originally the farm stables for 13 cart horses and one stallion. Lying at the heart of my family's working farm, we are now the third generation of the family to own the house. It has been beautifully converted into a large holiday house. With sweeping views across the Sound of Mull and surrounding countryside, this spacious and well-furnished large holiday house is full of charm and feels like a home away from home.

Comfortably sleeping 12, and with its own attractive walled garden, this large self catering holiday house consists of 1 superking bedroom, 1 kingsized bedroom, 2 twin rooms and 2 bunk rooms. It has two bathrooms and a downstairs shower room.

There is an open plan farmhouse kitchen/dining room with an electric Aga and a ceramic hob as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and the spacious drawing room boasts spectacular views for 40 miles down the Sound of Mull to the hills above Oban. The large holiday house is well equipped and features exposed wooden floorboards, light airy rooms, some beautiful pieces of period furniture throughout and a table tennis table.

The Stables holiday house is heated throughout, with an open fire place in the drawing room. Egyptian cotton bed linen is provided but we do not provide towels. Dogs are welcome. There is a telephone and wi-fi is available.

If you look at the stone work on the face of Ardnacross you will see that the early part of the house built by the Duke of Argyll was built by stone masons placing the stoners in random fashion. All the later buildings were built with stones of even size placed in rows.
